Optimax™ Tubing Mounted Valves
Weatherford’s Optimax W(E)-5 is for wells with a shut-in tubing pressure below 5,000 psi (34 MPa). This design incorporates non-elastomeric dynamic seals in a rod piston design, providing longer well life and lower frictional forces than valves using an annular piston. The non-elastomeric seals are non-reactive to well fluids and are the preferred option for a vast majority of operators throughout the world.
All Weatherford surface-controlled subsurface safety valves incorporate both a metal-to-metal hard seat and non-elastomeric resilient seal in the flapper designs. This dual seal provides redundancy in gas applications. The design of the optional through-the-flapper equalizing system is based on years of industry experience in the design and use of self-equalizing valves.
The W(E)-5 leads the industry with the fewest leak paths incorporated into the valve design. Fewer leak paths equal increased reliability and longer life.
Weatherford’s Optimax WP(E)-5 and WP(E)-10 tubing mounted valves are for wells with up to 10,000 psi (69 MPa) shut-in tubing pressure. This design is based on the field proven W(E)-5 design with the addition of metal-to-metal stop seals backing up the non-elastomeric dynamic seals on the rod piston. These seals engage when the valve is in the full-open and full-closed positions and provides a redundant seal to the non-elastomeric dynamic seals.
The Optimax WP(E) series of safety valves is the preferred option in more gas and hostile environments than the W(E) series.
