Openhole Whipstock Systems
When stuck pipe or fish necessitates openhole side tracking, the exposed fish can be used as your solid bottom or anchor. This approach eliminates trips in the well and minimizes costs associated with setting plugs or cementing. Simply pick up the whipstock and high-torque running tool, run to depth and locate the fish top. With the appropriate bottom profile connection, engage the fish top and rotate to thread onto the fish. Overpull to shear off the running tool, pick up the drilling BHA, and perform the sidetrack.
Openhole whipstocks can also be run as cement type whipstocks in a cement plug. The new high-torque setting tool design allows for longer circulation times at higher pressures when cementing or circulating to bottom.
