Weatherford’s MillThru multilateral system creates a TAML Level 4 junction with full liner access to both the lateral and the main bore. Overlapping concentric strings, combined with cement, ensure a junction with maximum support. The system can be used in new or re-entry applications.

This simple, low-cost, low-risk system relies on standard casing exit equipment for making the casing exit and drilling the lateral. The liner is run and cemented. This is followed by simple mill assemblies to create the access window back into the main bore through the standard liner.

To construct the MillThru junction, install Weatherford’s PakLatch^™ permanent packer assembly, and latch the self-aligning QuickCut^™ whipstock to the packer. Perform a routine casing exit. Drill, case and cement the lateral with conventional methods. Run the MillThru assemblies, and mill an access window through the liner overlap at the junction, using proven milling techniques. The junction is now complete.

A flow-activated re-entry deflector is available for selectively re-entering multiple laterals in the same well.
