Bumper Springs
Weatherford Bumper Springs act as a spring to absorb the impact of the plunger when it reaches the bottom of the well, and to prevent potential damage to downhole fishing neck profiles. The complete downhole assembly is engineered and designed for maximum flow-through capabilities and incorporates an inner mandrel to keep the spring from being over stressed. Bumper Springs can either be dropped from the surface to land in a nipple or be installed and retrieved by wireline.
Weatherford Bumper Springs are manufactured with 4140 alloy steel. They are also available for sour service applications. A variety of sizes and designs are offered. Models include an economical "free floating" bumper spring with a no-go, a standing valve with a ball and seat, a collet that attaches to a tubing stop or collar stop, or a cup holddown that lands in a seating nipple.
