Well Abandonment

Well Abandonment Man on Rig

Effective well abandonment must achieve multiple safety, regulatory, and cost objectives. Doing so requires a full scope of specialized technologies and expertise.

Sealing the well for abandonment is vitally important to long-term protection of the surrounding environment. Efficiently meeting the regulatory objectives developed to achieve this goal must be the focus of every well abandonment project.

Well Abandonment Platform Rig

Weatherford excels at achieving operator and regulatory abandonment objectives with highly skilled personnel, proven processes, and cost-effective, specialized, and often unique technologies.

The Weatherford Rig-Free® pulling and jacking unit is a safer and more efficient alternative to conventional mobile drilling and workover units.

Technology at this high level, combined with our proven ability to design, engineer, and execute well abandonment projects, delivers exceptional performance at an economical cost. In some cases, Weatherford abandonment services can even extend productive well life and avoid early abandonment.

Innovative technology guided by in-depth experience is key to well abandonment performance.

For example, the Weatherford M.O.S.T. mechanical-outside-latch, single-trip subsea tool enables cutting and recovery of multiple casing strings in a single trip, which saves rig time and minimizes damage to seal surfaces. We’ve also engineered a rigless, light-duty work deck system for milling and for tubular running and removal. The work deck includes an integrated 2-ton jib crane for a range of tubular handling.

Weatherford well abandonment services combined with cost-effective intervention technology ensure well integrity for safe, efficient abandonment in any environment.
