Reporting TRANSITION from Guiberson to Weatherford

Weatherford and AESC has taken the time to study the history of the numbers, re-calculated the true numbers with input from Spears & Associates, an industry leader in analysis, and now are committed to re-focus the reporting such that the industry and all of its watchers can rely on the published figures.

Over the last three decades, there had been occasional adjustments to the US regional boundaries. Initially in the 1970’s, records did not show a regional breakout, and only showed the active rigs rather than the total rig count. Consequently, a utilization percentage was not indicated. Also, the historical database shows a period in the 1980’s when the ARKLATEX region was not separated from the EASTERN region, and then from 1998 through 2001 where the EASTERN region was grouped with MID-CONTINENT.

The number of regions for the future will be 8 and Weatherford, along with AESC, will strive to maintain maximum clarity by using this new and larger group of regions.
