MetalSkin® Monobore Open-Hole Clad Systems

Solid answers for drilling hazard mitigation

The MetalSkin monobore open-hole clad system is much more efficient than pumping thicker muds and cement to seal a formation. The solid steel barrier keeps the formation from falling in and fluid from flowing out.

Wellbore instability and lost-circulation problems: Multiple clad liners can be run (passing one clad through another) to provide the same drift as the hole after installation. The system is ideal for treating lost-circulation zones, overpressured formations, zones with shallow flows and sloughing formations.

Solid drilling security: The trouble zone is minimally underreamed (1.0 in.), and the clad system is expanded into it so you can resume drilling with the same size bit and complete the well as planned, without downsizing.

Solid advantages and benefits

  • Selective isolation reduces risk exposure and costs because the MetalSkin monobore open-hole clad system is typically short and not tied back to the casing.
  • Clad-through-clad flexibility lets you run and expand a clad liner to seal off one trouble zone, continue drilling with the same size bit, and run additional MetalSkin clad systems as needed.
  • No loss of hole size means optimal production and intervention access.
  • Elastomer bands create pipe-to-formation seals and promote positive anchoring of the MetalSkin monobore open-hole clad system.
  • The monobore effect of this system lets you slim the well to reduce well construction costs.
