Hinge-Style Whipstock Systems

The hinge-type whipstock is one of the oldest whipstock systems still being run in the re-entry market today. The unique hinge feature lets the concave hinge back against the casing wall, giving the starting mill the proper deflection to cut through the casing and remove the pilot lug. Weatherford's standard complement of casing exit mills (featuring crushed carbide or tungsten inserts) is used with this whipstock to obtain a full-gauge window in as few as two milling trips.
