Selective Acidizing and Tubing Testing Operations
Weatherford offers two systems for performing coiled-tubing (CT)-conveyed selective acidizing and integrity testing of production tubing or casing in monobore wells.
The CT packer system uses a reciprocating jay compression-set packer and a pickup unloader to pack off, using the weight of the coil to compress the element. Once set by reciprocal motion, pressure can be applied to the annulus. After pressure testing or selective acidizing has been completed, picking up on the CT activates the pickup unloader, equalizing the pressure between the annulus and the tubing. The CT packer system is recommended for applications in which the packer system remains within the same basic ID in the production tubing or casing throughout the operation.
The Jet Set™ system uses a Jet Pack® packer, a hydraulic anchor and a set-down unloader to pack off the tubing or casing, using tension applied to the CT after activating the setting mechanism with flow. When setting has been activated by flow rate, tension is applied to the CT; pressure can then be applied to the annulus. Once pressure testing or selective acidizing has been completed, slacking off on the CT activates the set-down unloader, equalizing the pressure between the annulus and the tubing. This system is recommended for applications in which the packer system has to traverse multiple tubing/liner sizes before reaching the depth of the required integrity testing or acidizing treatment.
