Washdown Gravel-Pack Operations

Weatherford offers systems for performing washdown gravel packs in monobore applications using coiled tubing (CT).

Weatherford’s washdown gravel-pack system uses a large-bore PB packer with washdown bottom and an E-HST setting tool that allows the system to be washed or circulated into place before setting the packer. The system employs washpipe, which is run through an O-ring seal sub that is made up below the screen section. A ball check below the O-ring seal sub prevents sand production from entering the ID of the screen once it is in place. The packer is set by circulating a ball to seat and pressuring up to the required setting pressure. When the packer is set, the annulus can be pressure tested, and pressure can be increased on the work string to release the crossover tool and washpipe from the packer.

These systems are recommended for applications in which the packer system remains inside the production tubing or liner throughout the operation. PB packers are ISO 14310 V-3-certified.
