The Net Oil Computer and the Red Eye® Water-cut Meter

The net oil computer (NOC) is used to perform production well tests to determine oil and water flow rates. The NOC receives the instantaneous water-cut reading from the Red Eye 2G water-cut meter along with a signal for total liquid flow-rate and calculates average production rates for oil and water over the user specified test period.

Flow-rate can be brought in as a volumetric rate or a mass rate. The NOC converts the mass rate to a volumetric rate using a liquid density calculated from the water-cut reading which is unaffected by improved gas-void fraction (GVF).

The user-friendly touchpad display provides a simple and intuitive interface for configuration, operation, and data retrieval. The software supports up to 20 independent wells with individual test and purge times. Well tests can be configured to run one time only or with automatic restart, with the last 20 tests results stored for easy retrieval. Communication to a host system, via the RS-485 port or Ethernet port, uses Modbus protocol.

Red Eye 2G Water-Cut Meter Configuration

The Red Eye 2G water-cut meter includes RedLine configuration software designed for pocket PCs. The software allows the user to configure communications, perform one-button fluid calibrations, and check system diagnostics. The connection can be done through either of the meter’s communication ports.
