Downhole Sensors

Providing reliable pressure and temperature readings, Weatherford’s downhole sensors are manufactured with high-quality standards to assure stability and longevity in harsh downhole environments. High-pressure, metal-to-metal seals and elastomer backup assures long-term reliability. Built with compact designs to fit most applications including slimholes, the sensors offer high-level accuracy in a cost-efficient design.
Used with controllers and the vector flux drives (VFDs), the sensors can evaluate reservoir conditions and provide more accurate well control, based on changing downhole conditions. For continuous transmission, we provide analog sensors, which are ideal for single-point monitoring such as intake pressure and temperature. Digital sensors offer addressable transmission, allowing you to multi-drop additional sensors on a single conductor I-line. Then you can monitor intake, discharge pressure and temperature.
VFD with Downhole Sensors
For control, the VFD can accommodate up to three analog input sensors—one for surface pressure and two for downhole. This solution provides all the benefits of the VFD, along with well optimization. Using the system torque and the pressure sensor inputs, the VFD provides accurate fluid-level measurement with full mechanical safety.
With pressure sensors located at the inlet and outlet of the pump and monitoring casing gas pressure at surface, VFD accurately calculates the differentials of pressure across the pump to assure that the pump is not overpressured. Thus, clogged pump inlets, which would cause an increase in annulus level, initiate a speed decrease rather than speed increase and protect the pumping system.
