Leak Testing

The origins of Helium leak testing in the hydrocarbon industry can be dated back to the late 1970’s in the North Sea. The application of this technique has become the industry norm for proving the integrity of any hydrocarbon system, whether gas, oil or refined products is the system medium.

As the hydrocarbon industry becomes more globalized, safety standards become harmonized and more stringent emission legislation is introduced, the use of Helium leak testing has become universally accepted as the standard for meeting these business and operational objectives.

Helium leak testing, with a laboratory standard based mass spectrometer, is recognized throughout the world as the only method of quantifying a leak. Weatherford P&SS has taken this concept and developed it to deliver the same results at a lower cost with the introduction of High Pressure Air Compression Equipment and Nitrogen Membrane Units, proving Air/Helium testing for new build construction and Nitrogen/Helium testing options.
