• Provides a series of upgrades to the legacy jar including a hydraulic restrictor-based time delay which allows the jar to be mechanically set low, with the option to overpull the setting. This gives an infinite adjustability of the jarring force.
• Includes an activation sensor that gives real-time feedback of whether the jar has fired. The feedback confirms jarring has occurred and minimizes cable cycling.
• The jar is designed to relatch under its own weight with a spring-assisted mechanism that helps the jar re-latch in situations where gravity alone is insufficient.
• Prevents damage to the cablehead or an unintentional release via a built-in shock absorber at the top of the jar.

Tool Description

The advanced multiconductor openhole jar is a hybrid mechanical/hydraulic wireline jar that uses the energy stored in a cable overpull to generate a large upward shock force. This force is used to unstick toolstrings in primarily openhole wells. 

The jar provides an infinitely adjustable jarring force through a hydraulic delay, enabling operations to begin with a low force to minimize damage to expensive logging tools, while allowing an increase in force as needed to remove the toolstring.

Real-time communication optimizes the jarring activity, reducing wasted time and potential cable damage. Conventional operations supply no feedback, compelling the operator to blindly pull on the cable and not even know whether the jar has activated.
