Houston, July 31, 2000

Weatherford International, Inc. (NYSE: WFT) today announced that it has been awarded a contract with Texaco Brazil, S.A. for casing running, fishing, drilling and rental tools, a liner hanger and cement hardware for four wells in the Campos Basin. Offshore exploration is scheduled to begin in September 2000.

The package includes Weatherford’s specially modified Total Tubular Services Casing Management Program, which will significantly reduce the number of contractors required for Texaco's drilling program by managing tubulars both onshore and offshore. Weatherford will also provide a full-time fisherman during all aspects of the drilling phases.

“Our strategic location in Brazil’s Campos Basin, coupled with broad product offering and a strong safety and performance record, allows us to meet the challenges of this growing market for Texaco,” Roberto Huertas, Weatherford Drilling and Intervention Services Vice President for Latin American, said.
