HOUSTON, October 17, 2002--Weatherford International Ltd. (NYSE: WFT) announced that it has formed a targeted Pipeline & Specialty Services group within the Drilling & Intervention Services Division to provide a range of services used throughout the lifecycle of pipelines or process plants.
Services will include a variety of cleaning, testing, drying, inspecting and integrity management techniques. Weatherford's Pipeline and Specialty Services Group is performing commissioning on Gazprom's Blue Stream gas pipeline--two 24-inch pipelines crossing the Black Sea from Russia to Turkey at depths up to 7,050 feet.
Building on Weatherford's upstream services, this new group combines experienced personnel and equipment from several companies. Worldwide group operations will be centered in Houston. The group enhances its expertise and global reach with the addition of several companies including ECD Northwest Equipment Technology, CSI Hydrostatic Testers, International Nitrogen Services, Messer UK Nitrogen Services, Specialty Testing Canada, RST Projects, and Kopp International Pipeline.
