Weatherford Acquires Eclipse Packer Company

13 Feb 2003

HOUSTON, Feb.12, 2003, Weatherford International Ltd's (NYSE:WFT) Drilling & Intervention Services Division has completed the acquisition of Louisiana-based Eclipse Packer Company. Eclipse offers Weatherford the opportunity to incorporate Eclipse packers, straddles and gravel pack systems into our growing range of thru-tubing services, which now are being marketed under the WellServ brand name.

Eclipse was founded in Harvey, La. in 1993 by Phil Barbee and rapidly gained recognition and prominence -- particularly along the Gulf Coast -- in providing quality coiled tubing-conveyed packers for intervention re-completions, and a patented coiled tubing circulating gravel pack packer system.

Corey Hoffman, Global PLM for Thru-Tubing Services, will assume strategic, operational leadership and P&L responsibilities for the Eclipse product line. Tim Clapp, District Manager of Weatherford DIS Well-Serv in Broussard, LA, and Harold Harvey, Senior Service Supervisor for Eclipse, will run the day-to-day operations in the U.S. Both will report to Larry Tidwell, Southern Area Manager for Well-Serv. International operations will be supported by the Business Development Coordinators within Global Product Line management.

Weatherford is one of the largest global providers of innovative mechanical solutions, technology and services to the drilling and production sectors of the oil and gas industry. Weatherford operates in over 100 countries and employs approximately 15,000 people worldwide. (www.weatherford.com)
