Automated MPD riser system expedites installation on offshore rigs

Weatherford’s new automated MPD riser system improves the safety and reliability of deepwater operations by using a robotic arm that enables a connection hub to be installed to a hands-free flow spool in less than 20 minutes, said Anthony Spinler, VP Managed Pressure Drilling for Weatherford, at the 2019 SPE/IADC International Drilling Conference in The Hague.
