HyperLine™ Motor, MWD Technology Drill 6-Leg Multilateral in 1 Run, Set New Record in Distance Drilled in 12-hr Shift, Improve ROP Efficiency

Drill multilateral legs in the Clearwater formation, including openhole sidetracks, using a dual-telemetry MWD system.

The combination of the EMx dual-telemetry MWD tool and the HyperLine drilling motor enabled the operator to drill a 6-leg multilateral well in a single run. Selected for its capability to drill directionally in multilayer formations, the HyperLine motor doubles the operating torque and power output of standard motors.
The 12-hour operation set a new standard in distance drilled: 1,594 m (5,229 ft).
All legs were complete in EM without the need to use the pulse telemetry in dual mode. All the drilled legs relied on the WellPlaced Survey Management (IFR2+MSA+SAG) technology.
The single-lateral bottomhole assembly drilled 12,461 m (40,882 ft) in just 70 drilling hours using the HyperLine motor.
The directional team maintained the trajectory within the specific target, achieving an average rate of penetration (ROP) of 231.4 m (759 ft) per hour over the 12-hour shift.

The Weatherford solution enabled the operator to maintain the drilling according to the well plan.
The drilling technology increased the ROP over other drilling tools from earlier jobs.
