Successful Production Logging Recording

While Nitrogen Lifting Via E-Coil Tubing Optimizes Well-Work Plan

Objectives

  • Find alternative lifting technology to perform production logging surveys in artificial lift wells. The operator suffered from a lack of production logging records in some artificial lift wells which had small casing sizes (mainly 7 in.) due to the challenge of running electrical submersible pumps (ESP) with a Y-tool bypass.

Our Approach

  • One of the offered technologies by coiled tubing companies is to record production logging during nitrogen lifting using e-coil units which can do this while recording using production logging tools (PLT).
  • Based on the track record performing nitrolifting PLT operations, the operator assigned Weatherford as the logging company to do the required collaboration with the coiled-tubing company.
  • After intensive planning with the coiled-tubing company—including a follow-up for lifting during the job and real-time QC for data—Weatherford personnel performed the job successfully, acquiring the required PLT data the first time.

Value to Customer

  • The operator successfully performed the first production logging for the well and set an optimized well-work plan based on this outcome.
