ISO Premium Plus Retrievable Bridge Plug

Provides an efficient seal to hold pressure from above and below while protecting the slip system from any debris contamination

Applications

  • Packer setting and completion installation
  • Contingent plugging of completions with damaged nipples
  • Temporary zonal isolation
  • Hanging of completion accessories within the tubing string
  • Temporary well suspension
  • Pressure testing of production tubing
  • Wellhead repair and replacement

Features and Benefits

  • Qualified to 6,500/7,500 psi (44.8/51.7 MPa), per ISO 14310 V0 standards for high performance reliability as a well barrier.
  • Equalizing is achieved by means of an internal sleeve that is shifted down to equalize the pressure and then sheared up to release during retrieval. This minimizes the risk of the plug releasing before equalization.
  • Large equalization flow area to mitigate the potential of debris plugging in overbalanced conditions.
  • Internal and external fish necks provide flexibility for retrieval from wellbore.
  • The short maximum running OD enables easier passage through wellbore restrictions.
  • A debris-exclusion system, which prevents debris from contaminating the plug components, enables plug retrieval from wellbore.
  • The low-stress slips system provides efficient anchoring and is suited to mature wellbores that may have corrosion or wall loss. This slip system eliminates concern of any imposed tubing damage resulting from high differential loading.
  • The slip mechanism is located below the packing element and is retained on retrieval.
  • The plug is compatible with industry standard setting tools on any conveyance means, which enable operational flexibility.
  • The element booster system traps boost pressure into the elements for higher pressure and temperature applications.
  • Rotational locking during milling operations facilitates removal in the event that the plug cannot be retrieved conventionally.

Tool Description

The Weatherford isolation (ISO) premium plus retrievable bridge plug is set by conventional e-line, slickline, tubing, or coiled tubing to provide temporary wellbore isolation. The elastomeric packing element provides an efficient seal to hold pressure from above and below while protecting the bidirectional low-stress slip system from any debris contamination.

The ISO bridge plug enables easy retrieval on tubing, coiled tubing, or slickline with a standard GS-style retrieval tool via both internal and external fishing necks. When the retrieval tool engages the top of the plug, jarring down shears the equalizing sleeve to equalize pressure and locks the sleeve in the open position, preventing the plug from moving with differential pressure. A straight pull releases the plug, and a release-retention system maintains the plug’s original run-in diameter for ease of removal from the wellbore.
