Update on CygNet mobile

Since WESC is now ancient history, I wanted to give you all an update on our new mobile product. For those who haven’t heard, we started a research project back in April 2014 to understand what our customers wanted from a CygNet mobile solution. The research told us that lease operators were most in need of an app to view data and acknowledge alarms from the field. That is what we have been working towards ever since and I’m pleased to announce that we are now feature complete! That being said, the official release date is still Q4 as we have some minor issues to address and want spend some time focusing on performance.
So why am I blogging about this? Besides the fact that Walter practically begged me, I wanted to share this milestone and invite you all to join our beta program. We already have 7 customers participating and over 100 users. Basically, you get to use the app for free until it’s released in exchange for providing us some feedback. I’ve posted some screenshots below to give you a sense of what it looks like. If you haven’t seen it yet, or forgot what it looks like, let me know and I would be happy to give you a demo. Supported features:
- Interactive map containing your facilities.
- Hierarchical view (optimized for mobile) of all your facilities
- View current values
- Trend historical values
- View CAS alarms and GNS notifications
- Acknowledge both CAS alarms and GNS notifications with a single tap.
- Users can pre-fetch their data making the app fully functional without a network connection.
Requirements:
- iPhone/iPad running iOS 8+ (It is designed for the iPhone so although it works on an iPad, it doesn’t take advantage of the larger screen size)
- Web server running Windows Server 2008 R2 or greater
- Must be accessible from the phone (either via VPN or public HTTPS connection)
- Must be able to communicate with your CygNet domain (Will work against a replicated domain, but users won’t be able to acknowledge alarms or receive notifications)

This is how you select a facility from the maps view. The map is fully interactive and once you tap a facility, the details pane appears at the bottom. This detail pane shows some basic information with a link to the full view of that facility.
ll view for a facility which allows you to see current values for all your points in one list. Points in alarm appear red. By tapping the plus sign to the right and rotating the phone, you can view a historical trend. You can also tap to see all the properties for a specific point.
This is an example of a historical trend which can display up to 6 points at a time. The trend is fully interactive allowing you to zoom and pan. Tapping a line makes the points appear, allowing you to tap any point to get the exact value and timestamp.
This is an example of the alarms feed which shows every point that has either an alarm record (CAS) or notification record (GNS). Tapping the more button will display a details pane containing all the details needed to make an operational decision. If a user chooses to acknowledge it, then that acknowledgment is sent to both the CAS and GNS (unless configured otherwise).
