CygNet Report Module Enhancements

July 29, 2019 / 7 comments / in / by Blake Miller

A new version of the Report Module has been completed and is now available from the Weatherford CygNet download site.

Here a list of the things we did for this release.

History report modifications

  • A new format option for “Group all values by facility” is now available to suppress the facility section headers to provide a flat format.
  • When producing a history report with “One value per row”, you can now source the tags from a file.  This new feature functions like the “Read Tags from File before Export” option of CExport.  The resultant report will use the supplied tag file and the configured rollup type.

Report formats

  • HTML reports can now be created using stylesheet language transformations (XLST).  A default style sheet is provided; however, custom HTML report formats can be created by supplying a custom style sheet file.  HTML reports can be attached to e-mails, like the other formats, as well as can be embedded in the body of the e-mail.
  • CSV reports can now be created without headers.

Report columns

  • You can now add columns to reports that contain static text.

As part of this project, we fixed a minor bug in the CygNet Depot, so be sure to check out the latest version of that as well.

Blake, sorry I didn't catch this reply earlier. We currently export the notes separately to a data warehouse and join them in a downstream process.

Thanks for the comment Tara. I've added your vote of support to our internal ticket.

Do you have a sample report you can share with me so I get a feel for what you are currently doing?

Brandon...are you doing something today to produce NOTES-based reports? If so, can you share with me a sample report?

I'd like to second the ability to include notes in the reporting module based on time, this would greatly reduce the amount of behind the scenes work for several of our reports.

Hey Brandon...thanks for the enhancement idea of reports based on the NOTES service. I've added a ticket to our internal system to capture the idea. We'll review this the next time we work on the report module.

Justin, thanks for the comment regarding minimum version number. The new Report Module will work with CygNet installations from 9.2 and later.

is there a minimum CygNet version requirement?

Hey Blake,

Is there any plan to incorporate entries from the NOTES service into the reporting module?

I could see immediate use for reporting notes linked to either points or the row facility which appear during the data time period for a specific row
