AccuView® System and Centro™ Platform

Enable Flawless Liner Installation, Remote Collaboration, and Reduced POB for Offshore Well

Objectives

  • Run and cement a 7-in. liner string to total depth (TD) in an offshore deviated injector well without incurring nonproductive time (NPT).
  • Enable remote monitoring of the installation from the customer’s onshore remote operations center.
  • Reduce personnel on board and enhance onsite operational safety.

Our Approach

  • Weatherford liner experts met with the operator of a mature offshore oil and gas field to plan a liner installation in a deviated injector well. To enhance operational efficiency and safety, the operator wanted to monitor the process from their remote operations center.
  • To facilitate offsite monitoring and improve collaboration, the team recommended the AccuView remote support system, which enables the operator and Weatherford experts to simultaneously log in and view the job. It also provides real-time analytics and enables validation of critical steps through instant replay.
  • The team used the Centro well construction and optimization platform for pre-job planning. The team carried out torque and drag calculations and hydraulic simulations, which they would later compare with real-time job data to make adjustments as needed.
  • For running the liner, the Weatherford team proposed the Xpress integrated liner system in the high-angle well. This liner system consolidates the liner hanger and packer on a single mandrel to increase torque-handling capability.
  • A Weatherford crew deployed offshore to the run the Xpress liner system. From their onshore base, Weatherford liner experts used the AccuView system to monitor the crew as they rigged up the liner system and ran it in the hole.
  • Collaborating with the operator, the Weatherford team analyzed real-time data while guiding the field crew through critical steps as they ran and cemented the liner and 7 × 9 5/8-in. Xpress liner hanger and packer system.

Value to Customer

  • The liner was installed successfully with no problems or NPT.
  • During 32 hours of remote job monitoring, the AccuView system enabled close communication and collaboration between the Weatherford liner team, their field crew, and the operator—resulting in a flawless job execution.
  • AccuView software displayed real-time operational parameters to rig crews and offsite monitoring personnel. This enabled timely analysis of all data, which enabled quick adjustments as needed to mitigate potential problems and increase operational efficiency.
  • Integrating the AccuView system with the Centro platform and Xpress liner system reduced the personnel required on board while running the liner to increase efficiency and enhance operational safety.
